We all have our Dream garages. You know, the ones with 8 Ferraris, a few 80s M cars, Ford GTs, and a Corvette ZR1. But, what about the dream garages with cars that will work for you, your family, and your job? Those are the ones not many people think about when the term "Dream Garage" is used. But I wanna know, what would yours be?
Mine would consist of two relatively cheap used cars. Both from the same brand, and same parent company. Both also use common engines, so parts would be simple to find.
My practical daily driver would be a Vue Redline:
Room for 5, 260 horsepower V6, available AWD, plus it can haul a huge amount of things with the rear seats down. Not to mention it's quite the looker in red. These can be found for around $15,000 with around 50,000.
My weekend toy would be a Sky Redline:
Turbocharged engine making 260 horsepower mated to a 5 speed manual. Same turbocharged engine that was found in the Chevy SS cars or the time, just sent to the correct wheels in this application. Perfect back road racer. Can be found used for around $16,000 with about 50,000 miles.
Both are said to be pretty reliable (I can only speak for the Vue, and yes, it is) both can be found for a good price, and both are quite attractive cars. Plus I could move myself and four friends, or even tow a light pop-up camper in the Vue.
So, given the circumstances, what would be you practical garage?

So.
My DD would be a 2015 Subaru Wrx (DON'T JUDGE ME, GAHHHH)
My weekend-mobile would be a Baja Bug
My other Weekend-mobile would be a Lotus Elise (Yeah, That's right no Miata. Come at me)
My Daily Bike would be a Yamaha Fz-09
My Fun bike would be a Gsxr or a Busa.

My Jeep. and then a spare Jeep built out exactly the same way so I have a backup for when I break one on a trail. And then everything else can be impractical as fuck.

I'm hoping to buy a house next year, and then add a Corvette to partner my Sonic. That's pretty ideal, and I imagine my garage will be something like that forever: a fun car and a car that can carry RC planes. If I do well enough the carrier car would be a truck+trailer full of giant scale RC planes

well, I don't work, and am not old enough to have a car yet, but here's a dream garage for my family! And yes, my family could afford this, we just preffer to spend more on vacations and technology than cars
MK6 Golf R with APR stage 1 tune for my stepdad. His '13 GTI is good, but I'm sure he'd like the R more!
2014 Subaru Forester XT for mom. She wants a scoob, so why not a fast scoob? It outclasses her '12 jetta in every way!
2009 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V for my stepbro. He currently drives an '06 elantra, but wants something fun with a stick, that doesn't cost too much to own...
2014 Fiesta ST for me. Gotta get the little love affair going!

Hum, best I can come up with in terms of practical is a 70's Chevy Blazer. I mean it's a truck an all :p
Thing is, there isn't much I can't manage, thanks to not being able to have more than one car, so I usually don't plan ahead until I actually come across a situation where I might need a more practical vehicle, then figure out how to do it with mine hahaha...

I am confuse.
I thought all sedan-based M cars starting with the E46 and E39 were the practical choice when buying a used car. They are pretty cheap when buying used (yeah maintenance is expensive but we only live once, right?).
These cars are modern enough to DD and big enough to carry full grown people. The engines are in the front and the trunks are in the back (and the trunks are big!).
Your lead pic looks perfectly practical to me. Those E46s are practical. And even the E36 is big enough to DD, especially if you have an E46 M3 sedan.
I guess my perception on what's practical and responsible is warped. I thought I was being Mr. Practical when I got my M cars, lol

Daily driver? Depends.
On a realistic budget, a Ford Flex Ecoboost .
On a realistic-but-slightly-larger budget, a Range Rover Autobiography .
Fun car, on a realistic budget, a Jaguar XK Convertible .
On a realistic-but-slightly-larger budget, I'll upgrade to the V8 Vantage .

Well I'm a bachelor who lives at home, so my only bills that I HAVE to pay is gas and insurance, And although not exactly a fuel sipper my first ever vehicle owning experience was 7mpg and I was in HS then so I'm sure I could make that work. And if anything, I'd make up for the bad gas milage with no longer having to always be the DD, seeing as my car will sit one other person, and that just means I can get down at parties, too! In all fairness, This is probably more practical for me than my next car I actually am getting is anyway.
And just in case the gas really is that bad, I'd get one of these for around 900 bucks to use whenever I couldn't afford the gas.
It's good to be young and in college.

2. Jaguar XJ40/Rover SD1/Rover P6 3500/Alfa 6 3.5l

Ok. Lets get crazy
1. Dodge w350 extended cab
Work truck, trailer puller, snow defeater. Either a big powerful Cummins diesel like this, for unparalled power, longevity, and efficiency, or n older model with a 225 slant six, for less power, similar longevity, and probably also less efficiency.
2. Mercedes 300D Turbo Estate (w123)
Commuter, people mover, and just so that I have something else to drive when the sun and the Cummins in the truck both die.
